Mail App no longer showing me badges for only Priority emails (Gmail)

Before upgrading to the new iPhone 6, my mail app magically only gave me notifications and badges for the priority emails in my gmail. Everything in the social and promotional tabs would make a sound but would not show a badge on the icon or a notification.

Now, it's gotten messy. All my gmails come in as a notification and badge.

Any ideas how get the app to revert back to the way things were?

I'm hoping this isn't a result of switching Gmail from an exchange to imap account...
