Mail app not deleting on MacBook Air

Hi

I can't seem to delete mail from my hard drive on a MacBook Air.
Mail is taking up most of my storage (see Photo attached) and I don't even use the app any more (now using airmail) but I need to free up storage.
Can anyone clear this up for me?
