So I went to open my Mail app and it seems to stop responding without loading my mailboxes. That amazing little swirly rainbow just spins and spins and nothing happens. I force quit and try again and still. It was working fine yesterday, what's up?

Sometimes Mail will hang when it has problems connecting to a mail server. I would try the following:

1) Get off the Internet - disconnect the cable or turn off AirPort or what have you (this is so that Mail doesn't try to connect)
2) Start Mail
3) Hopefully it's not hanged, and your accounts appear in the left pane with electricity bolts next to them, indicating that they're offline. Go to Window -> Activity Monitor
4) Get back on the Internet and observe the Activity Monitor

That should give you some useful information as to what is going on - provided the cause of the hanging is mail server-related.
