Hi all! I'm in need of some help.

My uncle just got a new Macbook Pro and I'm helping him set up his emails in his Mail app in Mountain Lion.

However, it's pulling allllll of his emails (some way back from 2009).
I'm assuming this is over kill, and redundant.

Is there anyway to make it start off with downloading/pulling just the new emails he gets, or a lower number? Thanks!

Normally... no. It will pull in whatever is on the server.

What provider is he using for email? With some like GMail you can login to the server and limit this.

Definitely post the type of email account as that can affect the options available. If the old mail isn't needed then why isn't it deleted?
