Mail App Question

I have my gmail account being synced into my Mail App on my macbook and iphone. The problem is that when I check my email on my iphone or gmail account, the Mail App on the macbook still shows as the messages being unread. I want it set up that when I read a message on my iphone, the same message will be shown as read on my Macbook. Please help. Thanks

Are you using IMAP or POP3. You should use IMAP.

go to Mail->preferences->Accounts, highlight your gmail account and look at what the incoming mail server is. IF you set it up as IMAP it should be imap.gmail.com.

It says pop. Do I just put in imap.gmail.com to change it to imap?

No, you need to delete that account, and then create a new IMAP account.
