I get these little exclamation marks next to my main mailboxes, and when I click them, it says "Couldn't connect to the server imap.gmail.com on port 993.

I've tried everything. I've changed settings to all sorts of different things. I've deleted my entire account and started over. During the setup process, when it tries to connect to imap.gmail.com to verify it, it can't connect to it.

What's the deal?

edit: All of a sudden it started working again. But this is a reoccurring problem. I've seen it happen on other peoples computers too. Why does this happen?

I had the same thing happen, couldn't figure out for the life of me what it was. Just for kicks I selected the "Only use this server" option for outgoing mail. After this things seemed to work fine, but from what it sounds like happened to you things may have just started working fine while I was messing around with it.

Perhaps Google is preparing the "New Version" option for more people...
