Mail app repeatedly asking for password

Anyone else experienced mac mail continuously asking for a password ? I think it’s trying to unlock system keychain but whatever password I type the popup doesn’t clear, I have to press deny about 10 times in a row and next day rinse repeat. I think I had this before but can’t remember how I fixed it. I removed other mail accounts so the only one left is iCloud and it’s still doing it. Drives me nuts …

Not sure what is causing this, but try visiting System Settings/Internet Accounts and checking your email account to make sure the Password is entered and accurate. For some reason, the OS seems to occasionally delete the Password field entry after updates, etc.
