Hey folks -

I'm using Mail.app with our corporate Exchange server and am running into a fun challenge with archiving sent messages. I have a dovecot IMAP server running on my Mac Pro here in the office, and Mail.app is configured for it, as well as the aforementioned Exchange server. The idea is that when I send a piece of email, I want it copied over to the IMAP server for archival.

The challenge with Exchange 2010 is that it treats "outgoing" messages slightly differently than the prior versions of Exchange. The server actually treats them as incoming messages destined for your "Sent" folder. With that knowledge, I was able to write the proper rule within Outlook 2011 to do exactly what I wanted: any "new" message seen in the Sent folder, move it over to the IMAP server.

Unfortunately, I can't get Mail.app to do the same thing. I have an inbound rule written, but I have to force the application to execute on it by choosing "Apply Rules" when I'm looking at the Sent Exchange folder. That's sub-optimal; it should just do it automatically.

I've been a Mail Act On customer for a couple of years now as their rule writing additions are damned handy. Unfortunately it doesn't help here either. I've had a case open with their support folks since last May with no update from them since then. Given that, I don't think MAO is the right solution for the time being.

Anyone else have any ideas or suggestions? Are there other message-handling Mail.app plug-ins that might work for me?

Thanks.
