Mail App strips IPTC tags from images

This is a little bit annoying, but not a deal breaker. Has anyone else seen this? When I send an image via Mail (10.7.2) at the original size, it keeps the IPTC tags, but as soon as I resize the image (in the email), it strips the tags out.

I assume it's because in order to resize the image, Mail creates a copy of the image, but it doesn't keep the IPTC tags. It would be really nice if it would do this. Should I get in touch with Apple about it?
