My Mail.app is having an issue.

I click on it and jumps up and down on the dock, then slows down all the other applications' reaction time. I ran Disk Utility to see if there was a permission error for Mail; there were none. I also ran Disk Utility to Verify/repair the startup disk, and that didn't solve the issue.

Someone suggested that I track Mail's actions on the Console and here's what came up:

Mail(960,0xa000ed88) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=1285337088) failed (error code=3)
Mail(960,0xa000ed88) malloc: *** error: can't allocate region
Mail(960,0xa000ed88) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug

Also, I created a second user account, to see how far the problem goes, and ran Mail from there. I had absolutely no problem opening Mail on the second account.

For added info, in both accounts I had to install the httpmail plugin because I use Hotmail. Which means I don't use POP or the IMAP option Mail gives you as a default.

~/Library/Mail/Bundles/httpmail.mailbundle/Contents:

info.plist

MacOS/httpmail (no extension)

Resources/DPHTTPMailPreferences.nib (folder), Dutch.lproj (folder), English.lproj (folder), French.lproj (folder), German.lproj (folder), httpmail.png, HTTPMailDebugWindow.nib (folder), icon.icns, Japanese.lproj (folder), pt.lproj (folder), sv.lproj (folder), zh_TW.lproj (folder)

So knowing this information, does anyone have any ideas of how I can attack this issue?

I was considering switching to Thunderbird, because my copy of Mail has always been a little crash happy. Like after a little while, I'll click on a section and get the "spinning wheel of death" which automatically means I have to Force Quit out of the program. But anyway, switching to Thunderbird is becoming annoying so I'd like to fix Mail.

I'm a recent graduate whose been sending out my resume for future jobs and Mail REALLY helps me when applying to LOTS of jobs. Right now, I'm kinda flying blind with some of the requests I've gotten for interviews because I can't access my sent mail to keep my replies straight.

PLEASE HELP!
