I use mail.app and all of my old and sent emails get placed into a folder that over the years has grown to 23gb. This is space that I could use. Is there a way to archive these old messages that I will most likely never use. I don't want to delete put I want them placed on an external hard drive in case I need them.

Mailbox > Archive Mailbox.

I have a feeling this was added in Leopard.

Are you running Leopard?

Edit: Yes, this was one the 15 new features added to Mail in Leopard.

Actually I just found it. I am running Leopard, and this works great.

Mail>Mailbox>Archive.

Thanks
