Mail attachments altered after Mt Lion

The way my mail attaches files has changed since I updated to Mountain Lion. It used to show only the filenames in the body of the letter, the way I want it. Now it puts the full document in there, without any reference to the filename, which I need to see.

I looked through preferences and found no way to change that.

Any ideas? Thanks.
