Is there a way to change the way Mail displays attachments? I hate how when attaching certain file types, such as PDF, instead of just showing multiple attachments in a nice little list, it shows you the whole freaking preview of the attachment and you lose track of what file (or type) it even is in the process.

I would try postbox. It is like the mail but it archives all files and things inside recieved e-mail and separates them so if you click on attachments it gives you a new tab to view attachments.

NOTE: The postbox software is still in beta so it is free but it may become shareware once the beta tag is removed.

I've been searching for a way to get this behavior in Mail for about 3 years now and haven't had any luck. It's seriously one of the most annoying things about OS X to me. It further annoys me that you can't even highlight all the massive previews of the images or pdfs, right click, and select "View as icon"- it only changes the first one to an icon. Stupid.
