Not sure of the right terms to use for this, but when I type a recipient's name in Outlook, it searches a directory and lists the potential matches. Both the accounts I use on Outlook are Exchange accounts.

Decided to try Apple Mail to see if I can by with a simpler interface. So far, I am liking Mail, except that it doesn't do the directory search as Outlook does.

I am sure Apple did not miss this out, so I wonder if I am not doing it right?

This definitely works though I'm not entirely sure why. There is a checkbox in Mail preferences -> Composing -> Addressing: _ Automatically complete addresses.

This has a "Configure LDAP..." button as well - mine is not set but this would theoretically use the directory if you have one set up.

The only other thing I can think of is if the names are(not) in Address Book(?).
