Mail categories always showing unread messages

I can’t be the only one bothered by this bug: all across my apple devices I constantly see these little black dots next to the categories in mail, indicating that I have unread messages in some of the categories- when mail overall shows zero unread messages, and also shows no red dot on the app itself. Once I click through all the categories, the black dots disappear. Until I have some new Mail and the cycle starts all over again. How is this still not fixed in iOS/ipadOS/MacOS26!??
