Hello everyone, I'm a lurker around here who's normally able to find the answers I need on the forum, but this one keeps stumping me and whatever search terms I'm using hasn't helped.

So I moved my email account from a GoDaddy hosted account to a Google Apps email account. After doing so, I added the mail account to my iPad and my iPhone, but when I tried to add it to my Mail Client, it kept telling me it couldn't connect to imap.gmail.com, despite my ability to ping it.

I tried to setup my mobileme account to see if it was isolated, but mobileme, is having the exact same problem. Please help!

Edit: anyone?

Port settings? SSL settings?

This sounds as if you don't have the port settings right for the IMAP account.

Also, SSL may or may not be required but authentication often is.

You will need to know your username and password for the server.

Good luck.

Make certain you have it set to port 993 and SSL is checked on the Advanced tab in the Account settings. Also be sure that Authentication is set to Password.
