Mail creates two folders

Hi,

I have a rather annoying problem:

I just got my new mac and i started from scratch, so one of the things I did was setting up my Gmail account.
I remember that on my previous mac, my mail app merged the Gmail in the standard 'inbox' folder (note: the picture above is in dutch, sorry for that. inbox = inkomend)

But now each time i get a new mail, i get a badge on the 'inbox' label, but also on my 'Gmail' label. And when i read the mail in my inbox, the badge on 'Gmail' doesn't change until i read it there.

So, is there a way to simply disable this?
