mail creating duplicate INBOX folders

Mail is creating junk on my server. It doesn't show in the desktop app (although dragging to the inbox behaves strangely) but it does show on my iPhone.

To show you what I mean here are screenshots of my web based mail readers folder list

which after deleting becomes

Anyone got any ideas how to stop/fix this? Mail has worked fine for months but just started doing this yesterday and it is very frustrating

no answer, but the same problem

I gave up having my mail try to sync with my touch! Inboxes kept duplicating until at one point I had 40 that I had to go in and delete!! I hope that someone has a solution because I would really like to be able to utilize all of my touch's features.
