Mail Deleted From MAIL On Mac After iPhone Deletion ?

Hello,

Using the Mail app that came included with my iMac.
Works fine.
Set up as IMAP.

Incoming message do appear on the Mac and iPhone, more or less simultaneously.
Great.

But, we've found that if I read the message, first, on my iPhone, and delete it
from my iPhone, it also disappears from the Mac Mail IN box.

This is prior to anyone reading it on the Mac.
Causes all sorts of problems, as you might imagine.

Obviously, I have something set wrong, either on the Mac, or on the iPhone.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

This is exactly how IMAP is supposed to work. It mirrors what you have done on all devices.

If you want it to stay on the Mac, don't delete the message from the iPhone after you have read it.

As Weaselboy stated, this is the way IMAP works. It synchronizes your account across all devices. If you delete a message on any device it deletes it on all devices. You should be able to retrieve the messages from the trash, depending on how you have your account set up.

If you want to keep a copy you could choose the "Archive" option for the message instead of deleting it.
