Mail displays only one panel

Until yesterday my Mail prog displayed a list of emails in the top panel and the content of any selected e-mail in the lower panel of the display.

It now only displays one large panel containing the list of emails, and to read an email I now have to double-click and open it in a second window.

How do I get back to the standard two panel display with one above the other?

Have you tried double clicking the thin drag bar at the bottom of the list?

You know, I hadn't even noticed it! Thank so much - that has solved it.
