hi,
few days ago, Mail suddenly stopped to play sounds for incoming and outgoing mail.
I looked at the preferences and they are ok, ie, there's the Submirine
sound selected. Strangely in preferences if I change sound it play it. But
then no sound is played when I get a new mail or I send one.

Does anybody know what's going on?

thanks,
dino

Are all other sounds playing normally? Have you checked the Sound pane of System Preferences to make sure alerts are played through internal speakers and that user interface sounds are set to play? Are other user interface sounds playing? Maybe try opening and closing Garageband to reset your Audio MIDI settings. :)

I've had this happen from time to time, it's a common topic on Apple's Discussion Boards. I'll bet you've lost interface sounds in the finder as well. The only cure is a restart sadly.
