I set up mail on my new MBP on the weekend and set it to leave mail on the server for a week (so that I could download it again at work). But Mail doesn't seem to recognise which email messages have already been downloaded - it just keeps downloading them over and over again. I have changed the setting so that it deletes from the server immediately, but I really need to be able to leave it on the server. It does this for both my email accounts (different servers), so it seems not to be a server-specific problem.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I seem to recall seeing a thread about this a month or two ago, but I have tried many searches and can't find it. I have also called Applecare twice and they couldn't fix it. Otherwise the Mail app is great. I would hate to have to switch to Entourage just because of this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
