Mail 'emergency'

Hi,

I've got about 25 emails opened in my mail and every time i open up mail, it opens them and puts them on the dock.

But when i try to look at one, mail locks up.

Now, everything i do, mail locks up.

Any tips would be extremely appreciated !!

i tried repairing permissions and i get this message:

Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility.

followed instructions and got same result

I am no mac expert, but ya. I think the Genius Bar at the apple stores will take a look at your mac for free. They charge to open it up though. They also MAY charge for fixing it, but better then nothing. In the mean time, try Mozila ThunderBird. I think it works on macs.

What machine and OS version are you using? This isn't something I've seen before; having mail messages being placed on the desktop. What mail service are you using (yahoo, gmail, etc.) ?

it's a 1.25 emac, using apple's mail program.

i had emails opened and minimized to the dock. around 25 of them.

when i open mail and try to use mail, it now locks mail and i have to force quit.

If you minimize a bunch of open mail messages to the dock and close Mail. Next time you open Mail those messages will be opened and minimized again. Mail remembers which messages were opened last. Not sure about the locking up though.

problem solved.

i updated all available and did a repair permissions.

not sure if those helped.

here's what did:

as mail loaded opened emails and minimized them to the dock, i was un-minimizing them and command-w for close and eventually i closed enough so as to prevent lock up.

thanks for your response, it kept me in there long enough to get the job done.
