I've just set up Mail to sync with my Gmail account using IMAP but I have some doubts about how this is going to work.
The first thing is that I read in the Gmail Support that my client was not going to download my entire messages, but only their headers until I opened them. Does this apply to all my mail, including those in the Inbox? It doesn't seem this is working this way in the Inbox, since I can see all my attachments from all the messages in the Inbox.
Yet, suppose I open some message and Mail downloads the entire message, including attachments. Is this going to be in my computer hard drive forever? How does this work? I suppose it might have some way of deleting these files and keeping only the headers again.
Lastly, when I delete some message using Mail it does NOT delete from Gmail, but it Archives that message. Is this correct?
Thanks a lot for the help,
