Mail, Hotmail/MSN and HTTPmail

For several months, I sent, received and stored my MSN mail through Mail without any difficulties. A few weeks ago, I noticed that Mail was not synching up with the server. Messages that I had moved in Mail were not being moved on the server. Then, it stopped synching up any actions made on the server. For example, I established a new folder using Hotmail. The folder appeared in Mail, but the contents remained in the Mail Inbox. I deleted the account and tried to reinstall it, but now nothing works at all. It downloads nothing and gives me an error message.

I have been using HTTPmail. I have double and triple-checked the settings, and they are OK.

Has anyone else had similar difficulties? Does anyone have any advice (besides ditching my e-mail account)?
