iPad Air Mail/iCab browser cluttered with numerous clippings at bottom - how to prevent/remove?

Swipe the windows up to close them.

Thanks, pretty much already know that, but is there any way to prevent them from appearing in the first place? Something in Settings? (have looked but might have missed it)?
