My iMac running version 10.6.5 with the 3.06 Ghz Intel Core i3 processor and 4GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 of RAM has suddenly become slow to allow me to edit an email or attach a file. When I try to highlight a line of text the "beachball" arrives and stays for some time while the Activity Monitor lists 100% for CPU. I am using POP3 and have most of my emails in files on the Mac and not in the Inbox.
I have owned the computer for a bit over 1 month after years of using PC's due to corporate software. I was thrilled to come back to a Mac after about 15 years, but I am not happy to find mail nearly impossible to edit. Even typing has the screen now way behind the keyboard, but it was not like this when I first moved all my email files from the old Dell PC.
I know I had found an article telling me to move four or so files out of the MacHD to another source and then using Disk Utility for something, and that worked for a week or so, but the problem has returned, and now I cannot find that original article I had read and failed to save.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
