Mail issues

Mail will NOT let me select IMAP and will go to POP automatically for my gmail acct

I have the POP disabled in gmail and IMAP enabled. Why is this so difficult

Is there a way to have the option to select the type of account I want as it is not giving me one like it is supposed to

Did you follow the instructions for setting up Gmail in Mail as IMAP?

yes and right after I type my email and pass word, it auto sets up ast POP with no option to change it even when I have POP disabled in my gmail settibgs

Edit: I have no issue when setting up my other gmail accounts, only this particular one...

edit: SOLVED....had to go to /Mail/Accounttypes/.com.apple.builtin.mailaccounts and edit the plist to be imap and not pop

This means that something is wrong with your system. However, it is good that you found a workaround.
