Hello, everyone,
OS X Version 10.10.5
MacBook Pro Retina (2015)
We are having problems with mail on all our MacBooks. IMAP accounts (all of them) go offline after a random amount of time. According to the error when clicking on the exclamation mark triangle that Mail displays next to the account name, the issue is a timeout.
However, this only happens on the MacBooks, which are the only Macs in the house that use WiFi. We are a computer heavy household, with more than 12 machines running at any given time, and the issue only affects the Yosemite Mail + WiFi combination.
We have 3 desktop macs that use ethernet, Mail always running, no issues.
Windows and Linux laptops using WiFi, no issues.
Mobile devices using WiFi or cellular, no issues.
MS Outlook on the same MacBooks and same accounts, no issues.
For what I hope are obvious reasons, this has lead us to deduce the problem is with the Yosemite Mail + WiFi combination.
I have tried several "solutions" found online. Most commonly mentioned is deselecting the "Automatically detect and maintain account settings" option.
Nothing has worked so far. Rebooting the MacBooks does increase the time span before the accounts get taken offline, but the problem appears at least once every 24 hour period, more often than not, the problem is pervasive and rather irritating.
Has anyone with this problem found a solution?
Thanks.
