Mail lag

Has anyone else noticed a lag in mail when opening it for the first time that day or after not using it for a while (ie 5 hrs or so)?

I think i noticed it after I set ito store all messages, (approx 25,000), but that's no reason for a lag..basically when I open it, it takes several seconds to allow me to click the inbox button...

Any solutions?
