Mail link direct to Gmail

Did I understand correctly that Mail can add some kind of tab that can link directly to Gmail. If true, how to do it? Thanks

What? Don't think so. Mail can be set up to read messages that come to your GMail account, but as far as a "tab" I have no idea what you're talking about.
