Mail no longer shows me new email?

Hey,

So I just switched my mail account from POP to IMAP - much better for syncing with my iPhone - but now it won't show that I have unread messages in the dock icon. (in system preferences, i have it set to check every 5 minutes). When I click on the icon, it immediately checks for the emial and then adjusts the icon, but only then.

Is this just a feature of IMAP? Does anyone know how to fix this? Should I trash some preference file or something?

My IMAP account occasionally behaves like that if another machine is logged into the same account. Do you have another email app accessing this IMAP account?

hmm i have my iPhone accessing the account, could that be it?
