Mail - No option to 'continue search on server'

I was recently messing around with my hotmail account in the mail app on my 3GS, I deleted the account and re added it. Now I have noticed that I no longer have the option to 'continue search on server', can anyone help me with this?
Weird thing is that both my gmail and university account still allow me to search on the server. I have tried deleting and re-adding the account to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

You can add hotmail as exchange or imap, which did you do?

oh yeah sorry I forgot to say, I used exchange with m.hotmail.com as the server. This was working perfectly before I messed up the settings.
Any ideas?? thanks
