Mail not working after Lion Reinstall

So I had mountian lion installed but decided I wanted to go back to lion, so I erased the hard drive and restored all my files and applications from a time machine backup, but now Mail won't open at all. I have tried everything with deleting my mail folder in the library and have reinstalled lion 2 more times and it still won't go away! Anybody have any ideas! Im desperate, Ive about had it with this stupid mail app!
