Mail notes attachments missing plug-in

I have been using mail's notes more and more. I have dropped attachments into the notes (mostly pdf's) from my local HD and my iDisk. Sometimes they "stick" and sometimes I get a "plug-in missing" box where the attachment should be.
Any tips or tricks for attaching to notes appreciated.

Here's what it looks like. What I'm thinking is that that file might have been dropped from my laptop and my imac doesn't know where it is. Could I use the idisk for the attachments, so that the imac and laptop can both access?
