I'm new to the iPhone 3GS, and switched over from a Blackberry.

I'm trying to customize my notifications and can't figure out how to get email notifications to vibrate without playing those annoying sounds.

Even if I set the sound volume to minimum, it is still very apparent in a silent room.

I've tried turning on Silent Mode, but that seems to only vibrate for phone calls text messages, and appointments. Email notifications appear to be truly silent and don't vibrate either.

If there's a way to make this work, please let me know.

I have the same question, and I need the iPhone to vibrate when I get an email notification. However, based on some responses, some users will say nobody should be notified immediately when you get an im or email. You should grow up and not depend on techonology 'cause only 12 year old girls im or email that much (again, this is what they told me)
