My ISP informed me the server firewall believes it is receiving a port scan from my IP address, so blocked several of my web sites and mailboxes for an hour. Of course, this had to happen just when I needed urgent access!
So I downloaded Little Snitch and set it to work. Soon thereafter it detected messages from Mail to Port 586 (password change) on several of my mailboxes, I let them through an was rewarded with another 60 minute firewall block at the ISP server. I set Little Snitch to block those messages and restarted Mail, and when the websites & mailboxes became available again everything seemed to work ok.
Now I'm not very knowledgeable about any of this stuff (and couldn't find any info in MacRumors) so can anyone illuminate whether this is normal, a problem with Mail or elsewhere on my Mac, or a problem with my ISP?
Cheers
