I use Mail for all my email accounts, and I just started having a problem with my work account (very PC-centric). Unfortunately, this problem crashes Mail each time I launch it, usually after about a minute. This happened to me once before, and I was able to fix it by immediately opening the activity monitor, stopping access to my work account, deselecting the "auto-check" feature, quitting, and reselecting the "auto-check" feature. This time the computer is too fast for me and I can't get to the activity monitor fast enough before it goes into its death spiral.

Does anyone know of a way to start Mail without it automatically checking for email from the selected accounts?

Unplug it from internet, start mail and go to preferences>general and change settings on "check manually". That should help if I understood you correctly:rolleyes:

Dear Mydel,

That worked like a charm. Thanks so much for the help!
