I access my GMail account via POP with Apple's Mail client. The past couple of times I've tried to send an e-mail have resulted in an error message saying "The message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The connection to the server "smtp.gmail.com" on port 25 timed out." I know I have my account set up right, as I've been using it like this for years. I went into GMail in Safari and could send a message fine. Anyone have a clue on what could fix this? Thanks in advance.

Many ISPs are blocking port 25 in order to cut down on spam originating from their servers. You should be using port 587 for Gmail anyway.

Thanks to Wild Cowboy for "… port 587 for Gmail"

Thanks also for this Wild Cowboy.
