Mail Problems

I'm a new user to my new MacBook Pro. I receive e-mails faster to my iPhone than on my MacBook Pro, sometimes my iPhone would get the e-mils when my MacBook Pro doesn't. I wish to receive them both at the same time, on my ione and MacBook Pro. Is there anything wrong? Is the settings wrong?
