My girlfriend is having problems with Mail - it has stopped recording her sent emails, in all her accounts.

I've tried deleting the prefs file, but this didn't work. I'm now thinking to delete the mail app and associated files altogether, and then re-install it from scratch.

But not 100% sure how to do this.

What files and folders do I need to trash?

And how can I re-install mail. Where do I find the files. I remember hearing that I can extract the program installer off the install DVD.

All help appreciated.

Woah there buddy. Before you delete and reinstall Mail, have you checked with the ISP or email provider to see if there's anything going wrong their end? Deleting the PLIST is (in most instances) the same as reinstalling Mail. I can run you through how to actually reinstall Mail if you like but I think there are a few better options to try first.

Start by opening up a new user account and seeing if this version of Mail can keep the sent messages. :)
