Just wondered if someone could clear this up for me. I use my iCloud email address on three devices - mail on OS X, and on iOS for my iPhone and iPad.
When I get an email and check it on one device it still appears as unread on the others unless I actually open up mail. Is that the normal behaviour? Or should it know its been read on the other devices without me having to open the app

Thanks

Yep normal behavior. Unlike outlook.com or MS exchange iCloud does not sync unless you open the app on iOS. However it should update your Mac's mail app.
