Hi,

I have a question about Mail.

I use gMail + gMail notifier, and I like it because it tells me when I have new mail and who it is from (with the subject), but does not download the message until I want it to (which is good).

I've tried Mail, but whenever I get a new message, it downloads it (or them) entirely, as they arrive.

Depending on how many messages I get and/or their contents, I often find this troublesome and would rather just be notified of who it's from and what the subject is, then only download the message upon request (ie. opening the message).

Is this something Mail is capable of?

I have my doubts, but I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I don't think so. I've only ever heard of one program that could do that on its own. I think it was called Mail Siphon or similar. It would look at the server and see the mail in a windowed format similar to other mail apps, but not open/download it at all. I used to use it to delete malformed spam that would crash many other apps.
