Mail Question

Is there any way I can get past the New Account Setup window that opens in Mail without actually setting up an account? I'm trying to use the Internet guide to setting up GMail in Mail, but I have to get past that screen first. If I try to set up my GMail account through that setup screen, it hangs up on trying to connect to the SMTP server. I'm on a brand new 20" iMac running 10.4.8.

Never mind. It worked the next time I tried it.
