Hi All,

I use the built-in macOS mail app. I've been using it for over a decade but over the last 3 years I've started working permanently on a Mac in a formal corporate environment. I have difficulty moving to a different app because of my long-standing setup, offline backups etc in mail. We use Microsoft Exchange at work.

Before the obvious answers come through, here is my settings page:

About 70% of the time that I reply to or forward a mail received on my Exchange account, the original text of the message is deleted. I never have the same issues forwarding or replying on iOS or iPad OS so I'm inclined to believe this is a problem with macOS rather than with Exchange.

I've ended up running both Outlook and Mail, and when I have a really important message that I can't afford to be messed up I use outlook to reply or forward and I do not have the same issue when using Outlook.

I've tried to pick up patterns to explain how to reproduce the problem, but it is largely random.

Has anyone had this issue/have any idea how I might solve this?

There is a situation with forwards or replies that I've noticed.

You might know if you're viewing an email and have anything selected that forwarding or replying will only contain what's selected. Additionally, if you click inside the received email but have nothing selected your reply or forward may or may not contain the original message. It's weird.

By way of update, disabling "use the same message format as the original message" has not fixed the issue.
