Hi there
I am setting up mail rules in Mail [mail.app] and was wondering which order they get applied in? Is it top to bottom or bottom to top?
In Outlook Express it was the bottom most rule, as in the last in the list, that got applied first, with the top most rule, as in the first in the list, applied last.
Mail's help file states "If you have multiple rules, they're applied in the order in which they appear in the rules list." However it doesn't tell which order that is, top to bottom, as in first to last, or bottom to top, as in last to first.
I would experiment but I have hundreds of e-mails to download, mainly from mailing lists. Therefore if I get the order wrong, I will end up with a lot of extra work moving e-mails.

In trying to work out how to apply both AND and OR options in one mail rule, I have found the answer to this issue.
See the Web Site:
http://rickcogley.blogspot.com/2008/01/tutorial-making-nice-with-mailapp-rules.html
On that it states "Rules are processed from top to bottom."
So I believe that is the opposite of Outlook Express which are processed bottom to top. As in the bottom rule is will be implemented first and the top rule last.
