Mail rules

Where are the Mail rules stored? I managed to hose some settings up and want to restore them from my Time Machine backup. Please/thank you.

Hi,

should be there :

~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/MessagesRules.plist

To reveal the user's Library : in Finder : "Go", press the Option key.

To restore the file from a Time Machine backup, first reveal the Library in Finder, then enter Time Machine interface.

Thanks for the response, but I’m not sure that’s the file/location. I understand what you’re saying, but the file date on the file is 07/25/2012. I have added/removed/modified rules hundreds of times in the past 2 years.

I thought it was that MessagesRules.plist also, but mine is also very old.

I made a new rule as a test and these four files in that folder got changed, so I'd say there is your target.

You might want to option drag them onto the desktop so you have a copy before you restore the old version in case things go badly you can put then back.

I did the restore to my desktop so I can shut down mail and move the MessagesRules.plist. Crossing my fingers.
