search through the list of mail... lots of spam messages will have different dates than todays so it'll be from like 3 or 4 months ago and put it out of your visible viewing window. scroll up and down and see if it's in there.

Sorry, I wasn't clear.

The folder Junk says I have 1 unread meassage. I have deleted all my unread messages...the folder is empty. (I thought I might have left a search so it can't see it: but the search box is also empty)

yes I restarted the app and the 'puter. In the end I deleted the mailbox and re-created it. I think it just got a little confused.
