Mail search not finding message

I am concerned with some kind of bug or problem with the search feature in the mail app on my ipad.

I type in 'tropical' and select 'ALL' and it doesn't find an email that i can see plain as day exists on the ipad. In fact, searching for the senders name brings up the same email...thoughts?
