Advance apologies for the confusing nature and wording of this post!

My partner has my old iphone and today it's started doing something really odd. We both use gmail imap (different accounts obviously). When he sends an e-mail from his iphone it appears in his iphone sent items with the correct 'from' and 'to' details (i.e. from his e-mail display name and his e-mail address). It doesn't appear at all in his Mail account on our Macbook nor when checking his account online.

However the e-mail appears in my sent items (on both Mail on the Macbook and online) with his display name on the Macbook but my e-mail address in the 'from' field. When checking the account online it appears to be from 'me'.

We're both using gmail but having checked his account details on the phone all are correct with no reference whatsoever to my details.
We use the same Macbook to sync the phones but under using our separate user accounts.
Can anyone shed any light?
